How To Soak Your Clothing To Control Ticks & Mosquitoes With Permethrin
Of course this is all just in our opinion since Health Canada has restricted Permethrin use as a repellent on clothing, although it is highly recommended around the World as such, and contradictory to the Canada laws it is also promoted even within their own departments as a tool against preventing Lyme disease.
“Permethrin is known to repel and kill a variety of arthropod or insects and permethrin would be a [welcome] addition to the tool box for repelling ticks,” said Robbin Lindsay with the Public Health Agency of Canada in a written statement to CBC News.

Providing a fantastic odorless barrier of protection, you can also use it on your outdoor gear. This will also helps reduce the mosquito population in your camp and prevents ticks from hitch-hiking on your gear and attaching to you later. You can watch mosquitoes fly around you but they won’t want to land on your treated clothing.
Dilute 1 bottle of this concentrate into 750ml of water to create 1.25L of spray at 0.5% permethrin (formula for diluting concentrates): use this 0.5% mixture for spraying or soaking clothing, tents, sleeping bags, and other outdoor gear. Permethrin is more than just an insect repellent — it actually kills ticks, mosquitoes, chiggers and more than 55 other kinds of insects. Permethrin is also effective against the Yellow Fever Mosquito, which can transmit the Zika Virus.
Spray your equipment, tents and the surrounding ground, but not the interior, the outer barrier will be enough to kill and keep pest away. For clothes its found best to soak or bathe your clothes, socks and hunting bags you plan to camp or hunt with (not your towels and underwear, the outer barrier will be enough). After soaking clothing for 4-6hrs, let hang until completely dry before wearing or rewashing (clothing can be starchy before 1st regular wash). Permethrin behaves like a dye in the fibers of your clothing. Don’t worry about sweating or getting your clothing wet, the effects will lasts for up to 6 weeks or 6 washing’s (whatever comes first).
It has a 4 to 6 year shelf-life as long as it is not stored in extremely warm temperature and does not freeze
